Piano / Theory

A.Mus.A , Ass Dip Mus T, VMTA Member.

I have been teaching now for just on 30 years and have had the pleasure of assisting all ages from 4 years to 60. In these 30 years I have worked at The Glenroy Specialist School, where I was part of their music therapy program engaging the students in both the primary and secondary areas in music participation and in some instances teaching individuals the keyboard.

In addition to my time at Glenroy I worked in my early years of teaching at The Independent Baptist School in South Morang, before the land was ultimately sold for new housing, teaching piano at various levels including VCE.

I was also privileged to work at Watsonia North Primary School in a program I developed for Prep aged children, in which all would participate as a grade/group in a fun session of music singing and games. In addition I also accompanied the school choir, and individual instrumentalists, and co-wrote two Christmas Pageants (“Must be Santa” and “When Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney”) for the Prep age group to perform.

I have also accompanied instrumentalists from Macleod College, Eltham College and St Monicas, as well as individuals needing an accompanist at short notice and I have assisted students studying VCE music to improve their theory and aural component of the examination from local schools such as Loyola College.

My teaching method can be described as “traditional” but I also have experience in Suzuki, Kodaly and Orff methods. Having said this, I have had a successful career teaching from my home studio preparing students for AMEB Piano examinations (all levels), Theory, VCE Piano, Eisteddfods as well as the family gathering.

I am pleased to be a part of High Street Music and look forward to the myriad of students wishing to learn how to play.
